San Tan Mountain Regional Park

A highlight from our trip to Arizona was this walk we went on at the San Tan Mountain Regional Park. It was a very short drive from our place. The pictures are a great reminder of the scenery, but nothing comes close to being there in person.

A photo taken from the car on the way there, the park is straight ahead...

One of many cacti we encountered (a saguaro)...

This is the jumping Cholla cactus. We had people warn us of the "jumping cactus"!
At the time of this walk we still hadn't figured out what it looked like - or knew they were all around us! We just knew there was a cactus to beware of! Luckily we didn't end up experiencing this first hand (or foot)!

The view looking back at to the city...

A Brody sized cactus :)

I was so thankful the only snakes we encountered were the ones behind glass at the wildlife exhibit at the visitor center! In the winter they hibernate... absolutely perfect time for me to go!
