The Cabin 2014

We did our annual family trip to the cabin with the Klassens again this summer.

Here's a photo of our accommodations (we slept in the building behind the vehicles)...

The most significant change/update to the cabin was a new patio Dad built, which includes a really smart built-in bench system...

The cousins played so well together for hours upon hours...

The boys have similar interests, and played very well together...

They were both in heaven playing on Papa's tractor taking turns raising the bucket up and down!

The latest water toys at the cabin were a pair of kayaks! We all took turns going out on the lake in them :)

And of what would camping be without s'mores?

The boys always enjoyed a morning smoothie with me :)

Boys being boys, found a small patch of dirt to drive their trucks in...

The girls were thrilled to catch some toads in a trap they set out one night...

Making big bubbles...

Someone not so happy about bath-time in the sink...

An after dinner family bike-ride...

And our usual picnic in the back clearing...

Thumbs up! (Brody-style)

Our last night and Brody finally discovers that trampolines are fun after-all!

The kids slept soundly at night... so much fresh air and exercise will do that I guess!

AgriFair 2014

A few weeks before the AgriFair, the kids entered a coloring contest to win entrance & ride passes to the fair. Turns out they both won! We couldn't keep the art, but took a pic of the kids with their masterpieces when we biked to pick up the tickets!

Somehow the AgriFair always seem to land on the hottest week of the summer (or so it seems!) This year was no exception by any means. It was hot.

Ken & Melissa went earlier in the day while I stayed back with Brody to make sure he got a decent nap. They had planned to meet up with one of Ken's employees. Turns out his wife is a real ride junky... and was thrilled to have a ride buddy in Melissa! The two went on ride after ride!

We took a walk around and found this zone with lots of equipment which Brody got to sit on...

Melissa took a break from all the rides to join us in the animal section...

The kids got to try out an antique corn sheller...

After something to eat Brody decided to try out some rides too. They started out on a very slow and simple ride on the "Rock Town" train...

Brody chose to step things up with riding on the dragon ride...

While Melissa zoomed around on the small roller coaster...

Brody chose yet another ride to try out...

But it turned out to be a bit too scary for his liking (oh you had to be there... it was quite funny!).

So he went back to riding on the other two rides :) It was our first year with two kids on rides! I can imagine it was a taste of what the future will be. Maybe in a few years they will be ready (well Brody that is as Melissa is more than ready) to go to Disneyland.
