Dance-A-Thon

Dear Blog Readers,

This year, I (Melissa) am taking part in my preschool's Dance-A-Thon raising money for World Vision. In 2006/07 Wind & Tide raised over $45,000 to help with the completion of an Elementary School in Mali Africa. In 2007/08 Wind & Tide raised over $65,000 to install a clean water system for the school and village. This year we hope to be able to send enough money to fully equip the teachers with the supplies necessary to teach a full and rich curriculum.

During the Dance-A-Thon on February 12th, I will dance for 2.5 hours. I am writing today to ask if you would consider donating to support me in the Dance-A-Thon.

To donate now, click HERE
These pledges will need to be received by February 11th.

Thank-you for your support :)

Building a Snowman

This latest snowfall, the snow was perfect for building a snowman! Melissa & Daddy seized the opportunity...

Melissa rolling the middle segment...
Cheering as Daddy places it on...
Rolling the head...
Bringing it to Daddy...
A slightly unproportional snowman!
Inserting the carrot nose...
And the three rocks for buttons...
Neighbour Kim comes by to inspect the snowman. The snow-hat pictured here on the snowman was his addition, which Melissa wasn't so sure about it. But as usual, Kim knows how to sweeten the deal... he is unsubtly trying to get Melissa to notice the candy rockets he brought over for her, which were hidden in the edge of his toque.
Now the snowman is smokin' the rockets... has Melissa noticed them yet?
While Melissa enjoys the candy, Kim takes her gloves and decorates the snowman with them... such a silly guy!
Next Kim adds some feet to the snowman. This is where Melissa drew the line... she suggested he built his own snowman on his yard! LOL... kids can be so blunt at times :)

Winter Festival

Today we enjoyed the "Winter Festival", a free family event put on by Central Abbotsford Community School.

The highlight of the event for me was when Melissa decided she was going to go in the bouncy castle. May seem silly, but when your child prefers to sit on the sidelines in fear, it is a big milestone when they jump aboard! I think Ken's analogy of it being like jumping on our bed helped a great deal!

To top it off, she eagerly went down the big slide!

and loved it!

Letting loose inside the castle.

Another highlight was when Melissa got her face painted. She was a little cautious at first, but really enjoyed the results, so I'm sure in the future she will do it again!

Kiera & Melissa with their face paintings...

A close-up of Melissa's painting... she spent quality time looking at it in the mirror. She especially loved the sparkles they added on it :)

Melissa's First School Photos

I just realized that I held off posting Melissa's preschool photos as her individual photo was a Christmas gift for family. Christmas is over, so here they are!

Melissa 3.5 years...
Her class photo... do you know any of the children?

Pay it Forward- A Gift For You

I've always wanted to do a give-away for the faithful readers of this blog, and here I have found the perfect opportunity! I have accepted this "challenge" from a friend's (Shari Saysomsack's) blog.

So here's what it entails: Be one of the first 3 people to leave a comment on this post, and Melissa & I will make & send you a handmade gift! You then need to post the Pay It Forward challenge on your own blog and make a gift also for your first 3 commenters and so on it goes. The gift can be in any price range you like and you have 365 days to send it. If you want to participate and don't feel up to hand crafting I'm sure it would be ok to purchase something too. I know that lots of people who read this blog don't have a blog of their own. If this is the case, you could always send out your own pay it forward in the form of a group e-mail or something... be creative! Most importantly let's keep the giving going :)

Third Day of Christmas - Dec 26

Klassen Christmas pics to come... just waiting to get pics from Jason's camera, as mine didn't turn out too well.
