To Melissa's delight her new best friend Dora joined her for her bath tonight! They had a great time with Melissa bathing and splashing Dora, showing her all the things she likes to do in the tub. Finishing off the night with a round of noisy kisses... "Mwaah"!
Here are some pics of our family picnic up in a very amazing secluded spot a little ways back behind the cabin. It has become a cherished ritual of being at the cabin!
On this occasion Nani & Papa took us on a walk to another nearby lake called Crater Lake. It was an amazing site, that the pictures don't do justice. Our little visit turned into a little bit more of a hike than we came prepared for, as we just kept going a little bit further.
Here are some pics from Melissa's dip in Green Lake where she found a sucker of a friend. She certainly has no fear of the water at all, and just wanted to splash, play and go deeper. We decided to take her back to the cabin to change her into her swimsuit and get some of her water toys to bring back to play with. When I was changing her diaper I noticed a black spot on her inner thigh. I tried to flick it off, then pull it off, and got shivers all over my skin as I figured out that it was a leech! EWWWW! None of us on-site knew how to "properly" remove a leech, but luckily the leech could feel he wasn't welcome and decided to release on his own. We kinda lost interest in returning back to the lake at that point as you can imagine.
Here are some intro pictures of our trip to the cabin. I'll be posting more each day throughout the week documenting our little day trips. Melissa was such a happy camper, and had so many firsts to be enjoyed including her first leech... now she beat me on that one! Stay tuned :)
Today we took Melissa to Vancouver to visit with Ken's old highschool buddy who is visiting from where he now lives in the UK. We got to meet his lovely new wife and take in the beautiful scenery of Yale Town down by the water. Then for dinner Melissa enjoyed some yummy cheese toast from her fanciest restraunt visit yet - The Cactus Club.
We went on a family trip to the Abbotsford Agrifair today. There were lots of sights to take in, and Melissa seemed to enjoy the activity and entertainment. You can see her enjoying the ballroom dancing stage, as it inspired her to show a few of her own moves!
Today was the last day for cousins Melissa & Luca to play together. Tomorrow Luca and his family are returning home to Toronto at 10 am. This morning we enjoyed a trip to Mill Lake, and played on the playground and in the waterpark. Then in the afternoon the kids played with a cool water inflatable toy that Nana had bought for them. They had a great time as you can see! Thanks for visiting Uncle John, Auntie Alex & cousin Luca. We hope to see you all again soon!
